Revenue checked, BAS accounted for

P&L revenue against the BAS, the bank deposits and the ledger for each financial period. The ATO account shows which BAS were lodged and what's owed. A gap is flagged with the documents behind it, while there's still time to explain it.

  • P&L revenue against BAS sales, bank deposits and the ledger, by period
  • Each BAS checked as lodged on the ATO account
  • BAS lodgement gaps over the last four quarters

Red flags, before the lender

The checks a credit analyst runs, run on every deal and recomputed as documents arrive. Dismiss what doesn't apply and it stays dismissed.

  • ATO debt and payment plans, losses, falling revenue or margins
  • Drawings, dividends or distributions above profit
  • Trading under 12 months, a lease shorter than the loan, arrears on existing loans
  • Debtors over 90 days and customer concentration

Add-backs on a lender's basis

Batonford reads the general ledger and proposes add-backs with their ledger lines: depreciation, interest, one-off repairs and personal spending. The owner's wages stay in, as a lender reads them. You accept each one.

  • Proposed by rule and by AI, each linked to the lines behind it
  • Accept, reduce or reject. Nothing counts until you accept it
  • Normalised EBITDA by period, side by side
  • Each document checked for signs it was edited after it was issued

Serviceability, worked out

The debt schedule against each period's earnings: existing facilities, those being refinanced and the proposed loan, at the actual rate and a buffered one. The ratios are shown with reference lines. The judgement is yours.

  • Debt service cover on EBITDA less tax and drawings
  • Interest cover, debt to EBITDA and LVR
  • A buffered rate you set and a sensitivity from 0 to 3 points
  • Existing loan statements read onto the debt schedule

Before you ask

Questions about the analysis.

Does it say whether the deal will be approved?
No. It shows the ratios with reference lines and lists what a lender may question. Whether the deal suits a lender is your judgement.
Can I change the buffer?
Yes. The assessment buffer is set per deal, and the sensitivity shows each ratio up to three points higher.
What if a check doesn't apply?
Dismiss it with a reason. It stays dismissed, and checks that stop applying resolve themselves.
